Self-Help Skills: High Road Services Society
Our Self-Help Programs will be designed to help optimize our consumers’ personal, social, and vocational competency in order to live successfully in the community. Activities are determined by the needs of the consumer. They will be an active partner in all aspects of these programs. On a case by case basis, we will act as Case Managers and provide goal-oriented and individualized supports focusing on improved self-sufficiency through assessment, planning, linkage, advocacy, and coordination. Training sessions include group and one-on-one settings. Group learning allows for opportunities that would not present themselves in a one-on-one situations; however, there are many individuals that can only feel confident in a one on one atmosphere. As part of our Consumer Outcomes Progress Plan, we identify the desired outcomes of the consumer and their families; and then develop strategies to meet them. Regular activities and instruction times are scheduled for the consumers to the development of their skills. The skills development activities that will be focused on relates to: Advocacy Living Skills Safety/Emergency Skills Communication Socialization Recreation Behaviour Management COPP—Consumer Outcomes Progress Plan We formulate what is called a Consumer Outcomes Progress Plan (COPP) which identifies the consumer’s goals, strategies, person(s) responsible and review dates. We believe in being accountable for the many areas of support and training and will provide reports of progress to those who need to know.
